The Port of Vancouver isn’t just a gateway to the world

Please read on to learn more, and join our campaign to ensure the Port continues to be a leader.

Meet Temple Lentz Temple Lentz is uniquely qualified to lead our Port. She served on the Clark County Council from 2019-2022, and has been Chair of the Washington State Freight Mobility Investment Board since 2022. She is currently President/CEO of The Historic Trust in downtown Vancouver, managing a dedicated staff that tends to 40+ historic buildings and their grounds, leases to 200+ commercial and residential tenants, operates six event rental spaces, and runs a robust public events program. She has run her own small business, and has served as Business Director for an individual brokerage of Cascade Sotheby’s International Realty.

Temple received her B.A. from the University of Chicago and her Master’s in Organizational Leadership from Claremont Lincoln University. She served on the City of Vancouver’s Charter Review Committee, the city’s and county’s Parks Advisory commissions, and chaired the Clark County Commission on Aging, as well as serving on C-Tran, the Regional Transportation Council, the Clark County Board of Health, and the Regional Disaster Preparedness Organization in her capacity on the Clark County Council.

She currently serves as secretary for the governing board for the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation. Past board service includes the boards of Leadership Clark County, Arts of Clark County, KXRW FM, Friends of the Columbia Gorge and the Hough Foundation.

Temple is widely recognized as one of our community leaders. She received the Vancouver Business Journal’s Accomplished & Under 40 recognition, was awarded the 2017 Iris Award for women’s leadership, was a finalist for the George C. Marshall Leadership Award, and is a graduate of Leadership Clark County.

Economic Development

Washington is one of the most trade-dependent states in the nation, and the Port of Vancouver is a key player in that economy. Temple is committed to retaining and supporting the Port’s targeted investments in diverse opportunities in order to leverage them for even more opportunity for our businesses and, by extension, our taxpayers.

Jobs and Workforce

Every business at the Port is an opportunity to bring a well-paying job to our community. Temple will work with Port and business leadership to maintain the thriving businesses we have and build new relationships to bring more growth and meaningful employment to our region.

Environmental Stewardship

In recent years, Port leadership has shown that environmental stewardship and economic development can co-exist–but this is a careful balance that can’t be taken for granted. Temple will work with Port leadership to ensure that our port maintains its commitment to protect and even improve the air, land, and water as it continues to be an economic powerhouse for our community–a place where everyone wants to do business.

Our Port is fascinating!
